Three stories take us on a journey through time and permit us to discover the world of the maple tree.
The maple syrup industry is located in North-East America. In the province of Québec, it is closely intertwined with history and culture. The maple syrup time is known in French as “la saison des sucres” and is synonymous for springtime!
In Volume 1, we will explore and discover this wonderful resource by the First Nations’s peoples. In this volume, we will go back to ancestral times to learn about their culture. It’s an exciting journey!
Volume 2 takes place in the beginning of the seventeenth century. We cross the Atlantic Ocean towards a colony which will become Canada with an eleven-year-old heroine, Marie. She will be the link between First Nations’s knowledge about
maple syrup and the early settlers.
Finally, in Volume 3, we meet René Turmel, The MAPLE MAN. This contemporary and sympathetic character devotes his talent and energy to perpetuate the tradition, and to tell young and old about the making of maple syrup.
